The Culpeper Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, also known as the Culpeper J&DR Court, hears juvenile traffic tickets, crimes by juveniles, CHINSupervision and CHINServices cases, abuse and neglect, Protective Orders for harm against a juvenile, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, crimes by an adult against a juvenile or a family member, and Protective Orders involving a juvenile or family member. A family member can include someone with whom you have a child or with whom you have cohabited, even if you were not married to the other person.

The Culpeper J&DR Clerk's Office
The Clerk and Deputy Clerks are responsible for processing all case papers and for maintaining court records. While court personnel are NOT permitted to offer legal assistance, they can provide general procedural information. For legal advice, you will need to contact an attorney. Because of confidentiality laws, the Clerk's Office can only provide limited information about cases. You must be a party to the case and provide a picture I.D. for access to a juvenile and child support file or case information.
Our Clerks can explain and answer questions about how the Court works.
We can tell you what the requirements are to have your case considered by the Court.
We may be able to give you some information from your case file.
We can provide you with samples of Court forms that are available.
We can give GENERAL guidance on how to fill out forms.
We can usually answer questions about Court deadlines.
We cannot give you legal advice. Only a lawyer can give you legal advice.
We cannot give you an opinion about what will happen if you bring your case to Court.
We cannot recommend a lawyer.
We cannot let you talk to the Judge outside of Court.
We cannot talk to the Judge for you about what will happen in your case.
We cannot change an Order issued by a Judge.
We cannot tell you whether or not you should bring your case to Court.
The Culpeper General District Court hears matters regarding all adult traffic tickets, adult criminal charges not involving a juvenile or family member, Protective Orders that do not involve juveniles or family members, issues regarding personal property, real estate, bad checks, debts and vicious dogs.
The General District Court Clerk's Office and Courtroom are on the third floor of the Courthouse.
The Culpeper Circuit Court hears appeals from the Culpeper J&DR Court and the Culpeper General District Court. The Circuit Court also hears cases involving felony criminal charges, divorces (including matters of custody, visitation, support, spousal support, allocation of property and debts, etc.), guardianships, adoptions, eminent domain, wills, contracts and significant claims for injury to persons or property. This Court is a court of record for matters regarding land records, marriage licenses, liens against property, wills, etc.
The Circuit Court Clerk's Office is on the second floor of the courthouse. The Courtroom is on the third floor of the Courthouse.
